Today, under the general leadership of the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, a working meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the general staffs of the armed forces of the CSTO member states. By video conference, the participants noted the main thing that the transfer of units of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan was carried out in the shortest possible time. Special words of gratitude were addressed to the Russian Aerospace Forces.
"During the meeting, it was noted that all CSTO member states promptly sent military contingents to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the request of the head of state to assist in resolving the crisis situation. Units of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan are part of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO," the press service of the CSTO Joint Staff said in an official statement.
According to the press secretary Vladislav Shchegrikovich, the main tasks of the forces are the protection of important state and military facilities of Kazakhstan.
"Since the beginning of the aggravation of the situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Joint Headquarters of the CSTO has been transferred to an enhanced mode of operation. To coordinate cooperation with the defense departments of the CSTO member states, an operational group headed by the Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff was sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The round-the-clock operation of the CSTO Crisis Response Center has been launched, providing video conferencing with the defense departments of the CSTO member states. Interaction with the defense departments on the organization of logistics, deployment of military contingents of the CSTO member states and replenishment of necessary funds is under special control," the press service reported.
