Moscow. January 9th. INTERFAX - The Russian Defense Ministry is constantly being subjected to large-scale information attacks, said the head of the ministry, Sergei Shoigu.
"Today it is not just the presentation of information in one form or another. This is a big, I'm not afraid of this word, war. The information war that is going on on all fronts, and we have no right to lose in this war," Shoigu said on the program "Military Acceptance" of the Zvezda TV channel.
According to him, a wide range of "information weapons" are used against the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, starting "from fakes, and ending with just information stuffing and attacks."
In 2015, the NATO Strategic Communications Center began operating in Riga, which, according to the alliance, was created to combat "Russian propaganda."
In 2017, Shoigu said that information operations troops had been created in the Armed Forces. "Information operations troops have been created, which is much more effective, stronger," Shoigu said in the State Duma, answering a question about the need to recreate the department that was engaged in counter-propaganda.
