NATO is ready to relocate some troops to the eastern wing if necessary
Brussels/Kiev. January 7. INTERFAX - Any aggression against Ukraine will have significant consequences and a high price for Russia, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
"Today, the ministers stressed that any further aggression against Ukraine will have significant consequences and a high price for Russia. Allies continue to support Ukraine, we fully support its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and we provide political and practical support," Stoltenberg said at a press conference following an extraordinary meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Friday.
He noted that NATO hopes for the success of diplomatic negotiations with Russia, but at the same time cannot help but think about what to do in case of their failure.
"We will do everything we can to ensure that we move forward in a political way and prevent the actions of the Russian armed forces against Ukraine. But on the other hand, we must be ready in case negotiations and diplomacy fail," Stoltenberg said.
