Moscow. January 7. INTERFAX-AVN - Commander of the Airborne Troops of Russia Andrey Serdyukov will lead a contingent of CSTO peacekeepers in Kazakhstan, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov, commander of the Airborne Troops, has been appointed to lead the actions of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in the Republic of Kazakhstan," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.
Serdyukov is a Hero of Russia, commanded a Russian group in Syria.
The Russian peacekeeping forces in Kazakhstan included units of the 45th separate Airborne Special Forces Brigade, the 98th Airborne Division and the 31st Airborne Assault Brigade.
