Yerevan. January 7. INTERFAX - Armenia has decided to participate in the CSTO peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan to show the work of the Organization's mechanisms in crisis situations, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said.
"The question arises (among the Armenian public - IF) why Armenia reacted while it did not receive assistance from the CSTO during Azerbaijan's violation of the state border. The position of responsibility is important here. We attach importance to the responsibility we have taken. And there is another question - whether Armenia is interested in the work of the CSTO mechanisms. The answer is yes, and based on this, we have taken steps to activate the mechanisms of the CSTO," Grigoryan said on Public Television.
According to him, Armenia should not "behave like an offended young man."
"Nothing has changed in our foreign policy vector. We took responsibility for the first time in history to use the mechanisms of the CSTO, showed how they (mechanisms - IF) should work. We hope that if Armenia finds itself in a similar situation, a crisis situation in the future, it will receive appropriate assistance," Grigoryan said.
