Washington. January 7. INTERFAX - The US State Department hopes to receive a reasoned response from the Kazakh authorities to what caused the need for the CSTO peacekeeping contingent to enter the country after reports of interference in the events of external forces.
"As for the deployment of the CSTO forces, we will first of all provide answers to these questions to the Government of Kazakhstan," US State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters.
According to him, the United States itself "has questions about this deployment."
"We reserve the right for the Government of Kazakhstan to speak about its arguments, justification for the deployment of foreign troops on its territory," the diplomat said.
He explained that, according to Washington, "Kazakhstan, the government of Kazakhstan, has resources, has its own resources and is a government that is well fortified."
Price stressed that the United States "will monitor very closely any human rights violations and any efforts or actions by foreign forces to seize Kazakhstani institutions."
