Washington. January 6th. INTERFAX - First Deputy US Secretary of State Wendy Sherman will travel to Geneva later in January for talks with the Russian delegation, along with Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control Bonnie Jenkins and a number of representatives of the National Security Council, the Pentagon and the US military command, the State Department reported on Thursday.
The message states that Sherman "will make a trip to Switzerland and Belgium from January 8 to 13."
"In Geneva on January 10, Sherman will lead the American delegation to an extraordinary Russian-American session on strategic stability dialogue," the State Department notes.
Among the participants in the negotiations on the American side, in addition to Sherman and Jenkins, there is a deputy assistant to the US Secretary of State Chris Robinson, who oversees issues related to Eurasia.
Laura Cooper, Assistant to the head of the Pentagon for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, and General James Mingas, Chief of Operations at the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, will also be in Geneva. In addition, "an interdepartmental delegation from the State Department, the National Security Council, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff will arrive in Switzerland," the US State Department emphasizes.
