Russia will transfer the Ekran-M satellite and three systems at Baikonur to Kazakhstan in 2022
Russia may transfer the Ekran-M telecommunications satellite to Kazakhstan, which has not been used before, as well as three technological systems at the Baikonur cosmodrome. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the source.
Thus, Kazakhstan will receive the Ekran-M satellite with an assembly and protection unit, a universal control and testing complex, remote control systems for refueling and auxiliary systems. It is specified that the objects will be transferred as part of the previously planned withdrawal from the lease of objects that are not in use during 2022.
According to another source, the Ekran-M was not launched because the system of the same devices in orbit worked properly. If the satellite was stored correctly, then it should be suitable for launch and operation in orbit at the present time.
In December last year, Russia and Kazakhstan worked out solutions for the decommissioning, decommissioning and disposal of unused objects of the Baiterek space rocket Complex (KRK). The Baiterek, which is being built by Kazakhstan, plans to launch Soyuz-5 missiles, which Russia is developing, by 2023.
