Moscow. January 6th. INTERFAX - Kazakhstan, in an appeal to the CSTO for help, called what is happening in the country an invasion of militants trained abroad, the CSTO press service reported.
"The Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization confirms receipt of the request of the Kazakh side for assistance. The appeal says that this situation is considered as an invasion of gangs trained from abroad," said CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov.
"The Kazakh side has held consultations with the members of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO and sent an appeal to the heads of the CSTO member states to provide military assistance to the Republic of Kazakhstan," he said.
According to official data, the total number of peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization is about 3,600 people. These contingents are intended to participate in CSTO peacekeeping operations. For the recruitment of peacekeeping forces, the member countries of the organization, in accordance with their national legislation, allocate peacekeeping contingents on a permanent basis.
The peacekeeping contingents of the CSTO member states are specially trained military, police (police) and civilian personnel, as well as forces and means provided by the organization's member countries to the CSTO peacekeeping forces.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have a separate peacekeeping brigade, which is part of the Central Military District, it is stationed in the Samara region.
