Washington. January 4th. INTERFAX - The United States does not plan to increase its military presence in Europe yet, but if a request is received from NATO allies, Washington will consider it, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing for journalists on Tuesday.
"If there is a situation with an invasion (of Russia into Ukraine - IF), if some of our NATO allies request additional forces, then we will constructively consider these requests," Kirby said, answering a journalist's question about the possibility of increasing the presence of US forces in Europe.
"So far, none of this has happened," he added.
Kirby recalled the already existing "very large and reliable presence" of US forces in Europe. According to him, if necessary, Washington can relocate its military to Europe.
