Moscow. January 4th. INTERFAX - The Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (KTRV) has a large volume of export orders, said the head of KTRV Boris Obnosov.
"We have large export orders," Obnosov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Such a joint venture as BrahMos is probably known not only to us, but all over the world. I think this is an example of cooperation between the two countries, when countries solve problems for the benefit of each other," said Obnosov.
BrahMos is a supersonic rocket developed as part of a joint Russian-Indian project.
KTRV is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of tactical missile weapons. This is the main organization for the development of hypersonic weapons.
KTRV has developed a marine hypersonic missile "Zircon".
The President of the Russian Federation awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation to the General director of KTRV, according to a decree published on December 20 on the official Internet portal of legal information.
On December 24, Putin announced that a test launch of the Zircons had been carried out. Prior to that, there had been no reports of multiple firings with "Zircons".
"The tests were carried out successfully, flawlessly," Putin said. According to him, "this is a great event in the life of the country and a significant step in improving Russia's security, in increasing its defense capability."
Prior to the salvo launch, which Putin announced on December 24, the Russian military this year and last year reported successful test launches of Zircon missiles from the frigate of the Northern Fleet Admiral Gorshkov.
During the entire test cycle, the Zircon rocket was successfully launched almost 10 times from a surface ship, twice from a submarine, the Russian Northern Fleet reported on December 31.
The Russian military conducted the first test launch of the Zircon missile from a nuclear submarine on October 4.
"The crew of the lead frigate of Project 22350 Admiral Gorshkov successfully conducted a complex of tests of the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon", having completed a total of about 10 launches. The crew of the lead nuclear submarine of Project 885 Yasen Severodvinsk performed two test firings with Zircon," the press service of the fleet reported.
It is expected that the Zircon will be adopted in the near future.
On August 24, at the Army-2021 forum, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the signing of a contract for the supply of Zircons. On November 8, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the contract for the supply of Zircons was of a long-term nature.
In February 2019, in a message to the Federal Assembly, Putin said that the Zircon missile would be capable of hitting ground and surface targets at a range of over 1,000 kilometers at a speed of about Mach 9.
In December 2019, the president said that according to the plan, work is underway on the Zircon hypersonic missile, not only sea-based, but also land-based.
