Serbia intends to continue developing relations with Russia and China
Berlin. January 3. INTERFAX - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Monday expressed satisfaction with the receipt of anti-tank guided complexes "Kornet" from the Russian Federation.
"I am pleased that our soldiers are happy with the acquisition of "Cornet" from Russia. Probably, this (sample - IF) is one of the best anti-tank weapons in the world," the Associated Press (AP) quotes the president as saying during a visit to military training at a base near Belgrade.
"The Cornet is an important defensive means to deter anyone from potential aggression against our country," Vucic stressed.
He also said that Serbia "remains on the European path," but at the same time added that Belgrade will continue to develop friendly relations with Russia and China.
AP reminds that although Serbia formally seeks membership in the EU, this country conducts an independent policy from the EU, strengthens relations with the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. Serbia needs the consent of all members of the union to join the EU, but the country has strained relations with Croatia, and both states are heavily armed.
