MOSCOW, January 2/ Sputnik Radio. Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed Moscow's proposals on security guarantees, the Kremlin's press service reported on Sunday.
During the telephone conversation, the leaders of the countries congratulated each other on the New Year, summed up the results of bilateral cooperation and confirmed the mood for further development of partnership.
On December 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation published draft agreements with NATO and the United States in the field of security. The documents, in particular, exclude the further expansion of the alliance to the east and the entry into it of the countries of the former USSR.
The projects also provide for the rejection of any military activity of the bloc in Ukraine, in other states of Eastern Europe, as well as in Transcaucasia and Central Asia.
Negotiations between representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States on security are scheduled for January 10, the dialogue within the framework of the Russia–NATO Council is scheduled for January 12, the discussion of security guarantees through the OSCE will take place on January 13.
