The head of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin stressed that there are a lot of tests to be done, the work is on a busy schedule
MOSCOW, December 31. /tass/. Roscosmos does not plan to change the timing of the start of flight testing of the promising manned ship "Eagle". This was stated by the Director General of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin during a conversation with astronauts who are on the ISS.
"We are starting flight tests of the Eagle spacecraft from December 2023. This is a decision from which I will not depart," Rogozin said on Friday.
According to the head of Roscosmos, during the first launch on the Angara rocket there will be a mock-up of the Eagle ship. Also at the cosmodrome, the ship will be shot and the rocket emergency rescue unit will be tested: it must tear the ship off the rocket standing at the launch site and take it to a safe place.
"We will have to work out the launch and firing of the ship in flight on the East, simulate an emergency situation on the rocket itself when it goes on the first stage," he added.
Rogozin stressed that there are a lot of tests to be done, the work is going on in a busy schedule. "Unfortunately, a few years ago the pace was lost in the creation of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome and the ship itself, now we are making up for it," he concluded.
The promising space manned spacecraft "Eagle" (former name - "Federation") is being created as part of the Russian lunar program. The first launch of the Eagle without astronauts on board is scheduled for December 15, 2023 from the Vostochny cosmodrome, during this flight, the ship's docking with the ISS is not provided. In 2024, the Eagle will perform a second flight (also without astronauts), followed by docking with the station. In 2025, the first manned flight is planned.
