Roscosmos clarified that the RD-191M differs from the RD-191 in terms of thrust
MOSCOW, December 31. /tass/. Firing tests of the first sample of the RD-191M engine, which is designed for the Angara-A5M launch vehicle, will start next year. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Friday.
"The RD-191M design documentation has been prepared, including in the form of an electronic 3D model. Fire tests of the first copy of the RD-191M engine are scheduled for 2022," the report says.
As specified in the state corporation, the RD-191M differs from the RD-191 in terms of thrust. "It is being accelerated by 10%. In this regard, a number of structural elements have changed," Roscosmos added.
The upgraded Angara-A5M is designed for launches from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. It is planned to use it to launch new manned ships "Eagle".
In May, the Director General of the Khrunichev Center, Alexey Brewhenko, told TASS that the assembly of the first flight model of the Angara-A5M launch vehicle, designed to launch the Eagle manned spacecraft, will begin in 2023.
