Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called the Russian Armed Forces one of the most modern and effective in the world.
"They reliably ensure the military security of the country, firmly guard its national interests," he said in his New Year's greetings. According to the minister, serving in the ranks of the Russian army has become truly honorable and prestigious.
"The road of 2021 was far from smooth, but we firmly followed the planned benchmarks, became more experienced, stronger - re-equipped the army and navy, strengthened their combat capability, improved conditions of service," Shoigu stressed.
He particularly noted the merits of military doctors and builders. The Minister thanked them for their selfless and dedicated attitude to the cause, which helps to save the lives of thousands of people in the conditions of the pandemic.
The head of the Defense Ministry also expressed special gratitude to everyone who celebrates this family holiday at a combat post, who fights terrorism far from their homeland, participates in special, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.
"The year 2022 is on the threshold. Let it become a time of success and achievements for you. On this New Year's Eve, I want to wish you and your families good health, peace and prosperity," Sergei Shoigu concluded his New Year's greetings with these words.
