Brussels. December 28. INTERFAX - The discussion of issues related to the security of Europe cannot be held without the participation of the EU, EU diplomacy Chief Josep Borrel said on Tuesday in a telephone conversation with British Foreign Minister Liz Truss.
"Any discussion of the security of Europe should be coordinated and with the participation of the EU," he tweeted.
Also, the situation around Ukraine became a topic for a telephone conversation.
"I spoke with Liz Truss about the developments with the build-up of the Russian military presence. He reiterated his support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The most important thing at the moment is to avoid further escalation," Borrel said.
On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a Russian draft agreement on measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation and NATO member states. It consists of nine articles, assumes the refusal of NATO from expansion, including the accession of Ukraine, conducting military activities on the territory of Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia, as well as from the deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles in locations from where they can hit the territory of other participants.
