The head of the Russian Defense Ministry noted that now there is "more and more peace and tranquility" in the region
MOSCOW, December 28. /tass/. The Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh has completed the difficult tasks of separating the warring parties and is currently solving planned profile tasks in the region, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during a conference call of the military department.
"With the introduction of our peacekeeping forces, we have managed to calm the situation there, and further steps are being taken to carry out the planned work. Now it can already be called planned. Gradually, life is returning to this region. There is more and more peace and tranquility there," Shoigu said.
According to him, "this is a huge merit of all those who were engaged in providing medical and humanitarian assistance." "And of course - all those who stand around the clock at the posts of peacekeepers," the minister stressed.
He expressed gratitude to "all the commanders, servicemen, privates, sergeants who have been serving in Nagorno-Karabakh, Syria, and our other bases abroad all this time."
"But - especially at these two points. Everything that happened, say, a year ago in Karabakh, when there was an extremely difficult, extremely acute situation, has been overcome by the efforts of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who conducted these negotiations, this work virtually around the clock," Shoigu said.
During the meeting, he also thanked the military builders for their work, who commissioned more than three thousand objects over the year.
