Washington. December 28. INTERFAX - Washington's readiness to provide support to its NATO allies on the eastern flank with the application of Article 5 of the NATO Charter in the conditions of Russia's concentration of troops on the border with Ukraine was announced by President Joe Biden's national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
"Sullivan confirmed that the United States supports the application of Article 5 of the charter of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and stressed the readiness of the United States to assist allies on the eastern flank in protecting their countries," the White House said in a statement about Sullivan's telephone conversation with the head of the National Security Bureau under Polish President Pavel Soloch.
The White House informed that the sides "exchanged views on Russia's military buildup near the border with Ukraine and reaffirmed the importance of the unity of allies in diplomatic and deterrence efforts."
