MOSCOW, December 26/ Sputnik Radio. The meeting of the Russia-NATO Council is unlikely to lead to significant progress in the field of security, Federation Council member Alexei Pushkov believes.
Earlier it became known that bilateral negotiations in the mentioned format could take place on January 12.
According to the senator, until Moscow and Washington agree among themselves, NATO member countries will try to influence the US position.
"So the Council meeting is unlikely to lead to any progress... Now they are preparing not to negotiate with Russia, but to put forward their own demands and give it a collective rebuff. Another scenario is not yet being viewed," the parliamentarian concluded.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported how Vladimir Putin explained the security guarantees initiative proposed by Russia.
