PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Dec 26 - RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about security issues, said that Russia "has been pushed to such a line that we have nowhere else to go."
"Well, I was talking about the "red lines", through which, we believe, it is impossible to cross. I want it to be clear to everyone, both in our country and abroad, to our partners, so that it is clear that it is not even a line that we do not want anyone to cross. The fact is that we have nowhere else to go. They pinned us to such a line, sorry for the bad manners, that we have nowhere else to move!" he said in an interview with Pavel Zarubin in the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on the channel "Russia 1".
"Well, I already told you: they will supply missile systems... to Ukraine, four to five minutes of flight time to Moscow. Well, where do we go now? They just brought us to such a state that we have to tell them: stop! That's the whole point," the president said.
On December 17, Russia published draft treaties with the United States and agreements with NATO member states, which include, in particular, provisions on mutual security guarantees in Europe, on the non-deployment of medium-range and shorter-range missiles in each other's reach and refusal to further expand NATO, including at the expense of the former Soviet republics. As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told RIA Novosti, if NATO and the United States do not respond to Russia's demand for security guarantees, this could lead to a new round of confrontation.
