The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry warned that Russia dominates the Sea of Azov
Washington. December 26. INTERFAX - Currently, the Sea of Azov has already become an area of possible armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to The Washington Post.
It writes that "there is reason to believe that the Azov coastline has a more serious strategic and economic value for Russia than the eastern border regions of Ukraine affected by the war."
The newspaper recalls that American intelligence warned that Russia could launch a "large-scale military attack on Ukraine" at the beginning of next year.
She stresses that international attention is focused on "the concentration of Russian troops on the land borders of Ukraine," but "if the invasion begins from the sea, Ukrainian forces will be largely powerless."
This, the newspaper writes, was recognized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba.
"From the point of view of security, Russia dominates the Sea of Azov, and in the event of war, it will actively use this to exert pressure on our southern cities on the Azov coast," he told the newspaper.
