Moscow. December 24. INTERFAX - Russia is moving its troops exclusively on its territory, and this is its sovereign right, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"Whatever Russia does with its troops, it does it on its own territory. And here we can hardly allow and agree to anyone challenging this perfect right of ours. Russia is taking certain actions to relocate and redeploy its armed forces within its own territory against the background of very, very unfriendly actions of our NATO opponents, the United States and various European countries, which conduct very unambiguous maneuvers, exercises in the immediate vicinity of our border, carry out reconnaissance aircraft flights, ship movements," Peskov said.
"All this causes our deep concern and forces us to take certain measures to ensure our own security," the spokesman added.
So, at the request of journalists on Friday, he commented on the statements of the American White House about the continued buildup of the Russian group of troops on the border with Ukraine and the call for de-escalation of the situation.
The press secretary of the President recalled that in order to discuss de-escalation issues, Russia expects "in January to receive from opponents from Washington specifically formulated answers to (Russian) questions that were voiced and proposals that were formulated in the draft text of a well-known treaty and a well-known agreement."
Peskov was asked where he sees a place for compromise in the framework of these negotiations, if the proposals submitted, according to Moscow, "are fundamental."
