The West should give guarantees immediately, not to blurt out this issue

Moscow. December 23. INTERFAX - Russia's actions against other countries will depend not on the course of negotiations on security guarantees, but on the need to ensure its own security, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Our actions will depend not on the course of negotiations, but on the unconditional security of Russia, today and for the historical future," Putin said at a large press conference, answering the question of whether the Russian Federation can guarantee that it will not attack Ukraine or other sovereign countries, or whether it depends on the results of negotiations on security guarantees.

He noted that in this regard, Russia "clearly and clearly" made it clear that further movement of NATO to the East is unacceptable.

"What's not clear here? Are we putting missiles near the borders of the United States? No! It is the United States with its missiles that have come to our house, they are already on the threshold of our house. Is it some kind of excessive requirement not to put more percussion systems at our house? What's unusual here? How would the Americans react if we took and put our missiles on the border between Canada and the United States, on the border of Mexico and the United States? Didn't Mexico and the United States have territorial issues? And who owned California, and Texas? Have you forgotten, or what?", the president stressed.

According to Putin, the United States does not remember this, in the same way Russia "tries not to remember" how Ukraine was formed. "Who created it? Lenin Vladimir Ilyich, when he created the Soviet Union," he said.

The President stressed that the current situation is a matter of ensuring security, not history, it is not the course of negotiations that is important, but the result.

"Don't we know? "Not one inch to the East," they told us in the 90s. And what? Na-do-li. Just brazenly deceived. Five waves of NATO expansion, and now, please, appropriate systems are appearing in Romania and Poland. That's what it's about, we're not threatening anyone. Now they also say that Ukraine will be in NATO. Or, God forbid, not in NATO, there will be bases and strike systems on a bilateral basis," he said.
