NEW YORK, December 23. /tass/. Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron entertainment content platform, won the auction and paid $28 million for the opportunity to make a suborbital flight on the New Shepard ship of the American company Blue Origin. He announced this on Thursday on his Twitter page. Previously, the identity of the winner of the auction held in June 2021 was not disclosed.

"Six months ago, I was lucky to win an auction for a place in the first launch of Blue Origin. Today I wanted to announce that I will participate in the launch of the "Sea of Stars" program. Five more people will be selected for the flight, which will take place in 2022," the entrepreneur's publication says. According to San, his future teammates will have a "special status" in the world of cryptocurrency, technology and art, among them there will also be an "influential celebrity." Their identities are expected to be announced sequentially ahead of the flight.

On July 20, 2021, Blue Origin successfully carried out the first suborbital flight of the New Shepard spacecraft with passengers on board, among them the richest man in the world Jeff Bezos and 18-year-old American Oliver Damen. Damen, following the results of the auction, booked a place for himself as part of the second flight of New Shepard. However, the company's management granted him the right to go on the first passenger suborbital flight of the ship. This became possible after Justin Sun, who was anonymous at the time, announced that it was impossible to participate in it during these terms.

More than 7 thousand people from 159 countries have registered to participate in the bidding for a place on the spacecraft. The company began accepting applications for the purchase of one seat on the ship back in May. The proceeds from the auction will be transferred to a non-profit foundation sponsored by Blue Origin. Its task is to interest children in getting an education and working in the scientific and technical field.

Blue Origin is one of the companies that are going to carry out regular tourist flights into space. Virgin Galactic and SpaceX have the same plans.
