The grouping of Russian troops stationed in Syria is a guarantor of peace in this Middle Eastern country, as are the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Such a statement on Wednesday at the plenary session of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was made by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu. According to him, Russian peacekeepers have been "providing conditions for establishing peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding areas for more than a year." Our military, the minister added, also contribute to the restoration of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the moment, not a single serious incident has been allowed, Shoigu stressed.
At the same time, another group of Russian troops acts as a guarantor of maintaining peace in Syria. This year, our servicemen have already carried out 348 humanitarian actions there, distributed more than 650 tons of food and basic necessities to the local population.
The head of the Russian military department also said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have repeatedly been involved in the elimination of wildfires this year. The military was involved in Yakutia, Karelia, Mordovia, the Trans-Baikal Territory, Irkutsk, Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo and other regions. In addition, the servicemen participated in anti-avalanche and anti-flood events - in Khakassia, Tatarstan, Tyva, Primorsky and Altai Territories, as well as in Kamchatka. "The forces of the Railway Troops are currently reconstructing the Ulak - Febralsk section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline," Sergei Shoigu added.
