TSAMTO, December 22. The uniqueness of the Abakan non-strategic missile defense system, created by the Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region, lies in the combination of missiles from the Antey-4000 complex and radars from promising air defense-missile defense systems.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was announced by the first deputy chief designer of the complex Dmitry Brilalo.
For reference: The Abakan complex was created for a customer from the Middle East and was first presented abroad at the Dubai Airshow 2021. The anti-aircraft missile system "Antey-4000" was created on the basis of the S-300V4.
"The concern's designers managed to combine Antey-4000 missiles and a new generation radar through a new automated control system. Due to this, it was possible to achieve unique characteristics at the request of a foreign customer," D.Brilalo said.
He recalled that the foreign customer did not want a multi-purpose complex of the S-300 or S-400 type, which are multi-purpose and capable of working both on cruise missiles and on aerodynamic targets at medium and high altitudes and on ballistic targets. A highly specific complex was required, which works only on ballistic targets, has a minimum number of combat vehicles, a minimum number of combat crew and must be fully automated.
D. Brilalo noted that the concern's designers completed this task in the shortest possible time, taking into account the Russian experience in the production of air defense and missile defense systems.
The complex is designed to defeat ballistic targets. We are talking about single-stage missiles with a low speed (up to 3 km / sec.) and a launch range of up to 3 thousand km. In space, they can reach speeds of three or four kilometers per second, but in the dense layers of the atmosphere, the speed is over 2.5 km/ sec. it does not happen because of air resistance.
At the same time, the target range is 45 km, the maximum altitude is 25 km, RIA Novosti reports.
