Washington. December 21. INTERFAX - Some of Russia's security proposals clearly cannot be accepted by Washington, and dialogue on other issues may start in early 2022, the head of the State Department Anthony Blinken said on Tuesday.
"Some of the proposals are clearly not suitable," he said at a briefing at the State Department. At the same time, according to Blinken, there are points in the Russian proposals on which it makes sense to conduct a dialogue.
"We could expect contacts in all spheres at the beginning of next year," he said about possible negotiations with Russia.
At the same time, Blinken warned that such negotiations should focus not only on the proposals of the Russian Federation, but also on Moscow's initiatives that cause concern to the United States and its allies.
Earlier, Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried said that she did not rule out that such contacts could begin in January.
