Servicemen of the Ground Forces (SV) in 2022 will take part in six international exercises that will take place on the territory of other states, SV Commander-in-chief Oleg Salyukov told reporters on Tuesday during the final board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In 2021, 10 joint exercises were held, in which 12 foreign countries (India, Pakistan, Algeria, Laos, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, Tajikistan, Serbia, Armenia) took part. In the next 2022, the number of joint exercises (10) will not decrease. At the same time, most of them will be held outside the Russian Federation (six - outside the Russian Federation, four - on the territory of the Russian Federation)," Salyukov said.
At the same time, he stressed that "the holding of these events is of a friendly nature." "The exercises are aimed at solving anti-terrorist tasks and working out new techniques and methods of joint actions of units," the military commander said.
According to him, in recent years, the geography and scale of joint exercises have been constantly expanding, the exercises are held not only within the framework of the CSTO member states, but also with colleagues from the countries of Southeast Asia and North Africa.
Speaking about the combat training of the SV, Salyukov noted that its intensity is increasing every year. "This year, more than 800 exercises of various levels have been conducted with formations and military units," he said.
