Speaking at an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, the head of state recalled the actions of the West, which were taken in the 1990s - early 2000s and created problems for Russia.
"Sometimes you wonder - why did they do it all in those conditions? Unclear. I think it's from the euphoria of winning the so-called cold war or the so-called victory in the cold war. And from an incorrect, incorrect assessment of the situation at that time and an illiterate, incorrect analysis of possible options for the development of the situation," Putin said. According to Putin, Russia is ready to take military-technical measures in case NATO approaches its borders. "If the clearly aggressive line of our Western colleagues continues, we will take adequate military-technical measures and react harshly to unfriendly steps," the head of state said. Putin stressed that Russia "has every right to do this" - to take actions designed to ensure the security and sovereignty of the country.
The President of the Russian Federation emphasized that Moscow does not require any special, exclusive conditions for itself. "Russia stands for equal and indivisible security throughout the Eurasian space," he said.
