Brussels. December 20. INTERFAX - The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, said that in January 2022 he would submit an updated version of the Strategic Compass security concept to the heads of the Foreign and Defense Ministries of the EU countries for consideration.
"I will present an updated version of the Strategic Compass in January at an informal meeting of EU Foreign and Defense ministers in Brest (a city in France - IF) in accordance with the existing goal - to adopt the document in March," Borrel wrote in his blog.
He noted that the situations around Ukraine and Belarus, "hybrid tactics, power politics, intimidation and disinformation" indicate that "the fate of individual countries and societies and broader principles underlying the European security order are at stake." This strongly requires the EU to strengthen its capacity and means for security action.
