Russia's demands to limit the US presence in Europe are aimed at splitting NATO.
This was stated by Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas during a joint press conference with the head of the German military department Kristine Lambrecht, quoted Rubaltic.ru portal BNS.lt .
According to him, Russian demands cannot be accepted if the authorities are thinking about the security of their states.
"We have agreed that we cannot allow Russia to draw new "red lines". Europe cannot be divided into security spheres, countries cannot be prohibited from choosing their security orientation," Anushauskas said.
In turn, the head of the German Defense Ministry, Kristine Lambrecht, expressed disagreement with Moscow's demands.
"We must clearly tell Russia that it has no right to tell NATO partners how they should act. This is a completely non-negotiable issue," the minister stressed.
