The area of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the so-called "green zone", where the embassies are located, was subjected to rocket fire on Sunday, December 19. This is reported by the Al Hadath TV channel, citing sources in the city's law enforcement agencies.
According to him, one of the rockets exploded near the US Embassy: it fell on the square, damaging two cars, another rocket was shot down in the air. It is noted that no one was injured. The rockets were launched from an area in the east of the capital.
The "green Zone", as well as the international airport, which is adjacent to a military airfield, from time to time become targets of rocket attacks from homemade launchers. In addition, foreign military bases in Iraq are being shelled.
According to Russian political analyst Marat Bashirov, the so-called "green zone" of Baghdad has long ceased to be a safe territory since the "American rule". He recalled that on November 7, the house of the Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Kazimi was fired at with rockets.
The assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Iraq was carried out on the night of Sunday, November 7. His residence was attacked using a booby-trapped drone. Prime Minister Al-Kazimi was not injured and reported it after hospitalization. As a result of the attack on the residence, 10 al-Kazim guards were injured.
