MOSCOW, Dec 15 - RIA Novosti. Chinese President Xi Jinping is well aware of the idea of a security guarantee system and understands Russia's concerns, said Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian leader.
The leaders of Russia and China held talks via video link.
"Since the chairman specifically stated that he supports Russia's demands for guarantees, then naturally he is well aware of this and understands the main thing, what concerns Russia is experiencing on its western borders," Ushakov told reporters.
"What is very significant is that the Chinese President stressed that he understands Russian concerns and fully supports our initiative to develop appropriate security guarantees for Russia, and the parties agreed to maintain contacts on this issue. And we will inform our Chinese colleagues about how negotiations and contacts in this regard will develop with American and NATO partners," Ushakov said.
