Washington. December 13. INTERFAX - Washington is considering the possibility of additional deployment of troops on a rotational basis on the eastern flank of NATO in the event of a "Russian invasion" of Ukraine, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday.
"If we recall 2014, many NATO allies aimed to increase their presence (in the region - IF), aimed at additional deployment of troops on a rotational basis. Definitely, these measures (the US) is considering in case Russia decides to invade Ukraine," Psaki said, answering a journalist's question whether there is a plan to send American armed forces to the eastern flank of NATO.
Earlier in December, US President Joe Biden stated that he was not considering the possibility of using American military personnel to protect Ukraine from Russia.
"This is not being considered," Biden told reporters, answering a question about whether the US military could be sent to Ukraine to protect it from Russia.
