The "Summit for Democracy" organized by Washington carried an unambiguously anti-Russian and anti-Chinese charge.
This was stated to Rossiyskaya Gazeta by First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Yuri Averyanov.
"Of course, the so-called "Summit for Democracy" carries an anti-Russian and anti-Chinese charge. But the main goal pursued by the White House is different. American elites are trying to convince themselves that their country is still the only superpower, that its global dominance is indisputable and that the whole world is looking up to Washington," he said.
According to him, Washington is aware that the brief era of American hegemony that came after the end of the cold war is inexorably passing into the past.
"The US military dominance in the world is far from absolute, in many areas the Americans have to catch up with Russia and China," Averyanov said.
He believes that America is also gradually losing its economic influence.
The virtual "Summit for Democracy" was organized by US President Joe Biden, the number of participants - 110 countries. Representatives of the Russian and Chinese authorities were not invited to the summit, but representatives of Taiwan and some countries of the former USSR - Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will participate in it.
