The Progress Rocket and Space Center planned to do this in the second or third quarter of this year
MOSCOW, December 12. /tass/. The locator for the Obzor-R radar spacecraft being created in Russia will be delivered in early 2022. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Progress Rocket and Space Center.
"The delivery of the locator for the Obzor-R spacecraft is expected in the first quarter of 2022," the press service noted.
In February of this year, Dmitry Baranov, general director of the Progress Rocket and Space Center, told reporters that the delivery of a locator for the first Earth observation radar satellite Obzor-R is expected in the second or third quarters of 2021.
Obzor-R is a radar satellite designed to shoot in the X-band at any time of the day (regardless of weather conditions). The data from the Obzor-R satellites will be used in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Federal Register for the purpose of mapping, monitoring natural and man-made emergencies, identifying potentially dangerous geological processes, objects and phenomena in construction areas, ensuring environmental management tasks, mineral prospecting.
A radar based on an active phased array antenna will be installed on board the satellite, which will allow obtaining an image with a resolution of up to one meter.
