Moscow. December 10th. INTERFAX - It is naive to believe that Russia will soon be able to receive security guarantees from the United States, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Friday.
"I think such expectations are naive. But it is important to keep in mind the following: if the opponents on the other side, first of all the United States, but also other allied countries, the so-called like-minded USA, refuse, try to torpedo the whole thing, they will inevitably get further deterioration of the situation in the sphere of their own security," he said at a briefing in Moscow.
"In what form, in what form it will happen is a separate question. And I would not anticipate such a development, because right now we are focused on finding a political and diplomatic solution to this problem, but a solution that would include legally binding guarantees," the Deputy minister stressed.
He also said that the issue of Russia's security guarantees can be discussed within the framework of the Russian-American group on strategic stability.
"We proceed from this. There is a direction of work in the stratostability group, which is officially called as "actions that have a strategic effect," Ryabkov said.
