The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov gave an interview to the Greek TV channel ANT1, in which he also spoke about Turkey.
As the telegram channel "Turkey's Agenda" notes, he also told about Russia's plans to supply Turkey with an additional batch of S-400. About a certain understanding between Moscow and Ankara on this issue and about the "sufficient sovereignty" of the republic to make decisions in its own interests.
"Turkey, despite its membership in NATO, has a very advanced level of military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation. We are planning joint bilateral projects with her, because they are sovereign enough to make decisions, despite their membership in NATO. Because it meets their national interests," Peskov said about relations with Turkey in comparison with Greece.
Vladimir Putin's press secretary also answered a question about new deliveries of S-400 air defense systems to Turkey.
"We have a certain mutual understanding with our Turkish partners, and we hope so. We hope so," Peskov said.
He also answered the question of what is Moscow's interest in providing such weapons, despite US sanctions.
"We all know that the US likes to play this game with sanctions, but they never achieve their goals. They have never been able to force any country to change its mind. Our policy is that we are open to cooperation with different countries, especially with our partners. This type of cooperation between Russia and Turkey should not pose a threat to any country, especially Greece, because this system is not offensive, it is defensive, 100% defensive," the spokesman added.
