Russia is alarmed by information about the circulation of 5 million units of unaccounted firearms on the territory of Ukraine. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on Thursday, December 9, during a weekly briefing.
"Against the background of rampant nationalist movements, the information of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine that 5 million units of unaccounted firearms are in circulation in the country is really alarming," she said.
Zakharova also said that Kiev is moving heavy artillery to the east of Ukraine to the contact line in the Donbass. She stressed that this is recorded by the OSCE special monitoring mission.
On December 7, it was reported that the draft US defense budget assumes the allocation of $ 300 million for military assistance to Ukraine. This is $50 million more than the request of the White House. In addition, the US authorities have provided for the allocation of $4 billion for the European Deterrence Initiative (EDI) of Russia. According to experts, this is $569.8 million higher than the request of the US administration.
On November 22, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side is watching with great concern how a number of countries are militarizing Ukraine, RT reports.
