London. December 9th. INTERFAX - The United Kingdom and Denmark have agreed to strengthen cooperation in case Russia needs to be contained.
"In order to deter Russia from aggressive behavior and other threats, NATO must be able to deploy forces in all its regions at the speed necessary to ensure timely reinforcement of allies in the event of a crisis or military conflict. We will strengthen cooperation in the field of military mobility through NATO, the Northern Group and on a bilateral basis," British Defense Minister Ben Wallace and his Danish counterpart Trine Bramsen said in a joint statement.
It is noted that during the meeting, the heads of defense departments of the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of response forces - both within NATO and with rapid deployment forces to respond to crisis situations.
"The UK and Denmark will continue to cooperate in the Baltic region, including within the framework of the expanded NATO forward presence in Estonia and the Multinational Division (North) in Latvia and Denmark," the statement said.
The UK and Denmark will work together to create a Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), strengthen cooperation in areas such as air and sea surveillance, joint training, disaster relief, intelligence sharing and anti-submarine operations.
