MOSCOW, Dec 9 - RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation records the increasing demand in the country for the production of decommissioned weapons and structurally similar products, follows from the letter of the department to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (available to RIA Novosti).
"The analysis of law enforcement practice shows that commercial organizations, including those with a form of state control, against the background of increasing demand, the production of decommissioned weapons and products structurally similar to weapons is increasing...", the document says.
It also clarifies that in the future such weapons will be upgraded into combat analogues, and then it falls into the hands of criminals.
"The demand for decommissioned weapons and products structurally similar to weapons in the criminal environment is due to the ease of changing the characteristics to the state of combat," the ministry's letter also notes.
In this regard, as previously reported by RIA Novosti, the agency proposes to make a number of changes to the legislation on weapons, giving itself the authority to control cartridges for civilian and service weapons.
