The General Staffs of the armed Forces of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) at a meeting of the Military Committee of the CSTO on Wednesday determined the priorities of coalition military construction, Chairman of the VC, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov said.
"A thorough exchange of views took place on the state of the military-political situation in the regions of collective security. The general staffs of the armed forces of the CSTO countries have confirmed a common understanding of the nature of challenges and threats to military security. We agreed to coordinate joint actions to neutralize them and improve the military potential of the CSTO," Gerasimov said, summing up the meeting, which, according to his assessment, was held in a constructive manner.
"The priority directions of the CSTO activities in the military sphere for the period of the presidency of the Republic of Armenia in the organization next year have been considered. Instructions have been given for their implementation," Gerasimov said, also adding that the work procedure has been defined "to attract the CSTO peacekeeping potential to the United Nations peacekeeping activities, including the training of military observers and staff officers to participate in peacekeeping operations."
"We discussed the results of a joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO "Interaction-2021". Decisions have been made to improve the management efficiency of this component of the collective forces of the organization," Gerasimov said.
