TSAMTO, December 8. In the United States, on December 7, a draft defense budget for 2022 was presented, the text of which was published by the relevant committee of the House of Representatives.
As RIA Novosti notes, the bill did not include amendments with sanctions on the Nord Stream-2, which some of the congressmen insisted on. In addition, the budget is presented without sanctions on Russia's sovereign debt. The US defense budget also remained without sanctions against "Vladimir Putin's entourage", which members of the House of Representatives wanted to include in the document.
At the same time, the draft defense budget includes the allocation of $ 4 billion for the "military deterrence" of Russia. This is $ 569.8 million more than the White House requested, the agency notes.
Another $300 million has been allocated for military assistance to Kiev, and at least $75 million. they are allocated for the so-called "lethal assistance".
"The bill includes $300 million for the Security Assistance initiative of Ukraine, which provides support and assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces - an increase compared to the budget request of $ 250 million," the agency quotes an excerpt from the explanatory note to the document.
According to RIA Novosti, on December 8, the House of Representatives of the US Congress approved the draft defense budget of the country for 2022. According to the press service of the chamber on Twitter, the budget was supported by 363 legislators, 70 opposed.
The document will now be considered by the Senate, after which it must be signed by US President Joe Biden.
