Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) expect to adopt an updated plan to combat terrorism next year.
This was told to Russian journalists by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to ASEAN, Alexander Ivanov.
According to Ivanov, Russia expects to continue the practice of holding meetings with the defense ministers of the ASEAN countries.
"We have already had one informal meeting of the defense ministers of the Russian Federation and ASEAN," he said. "We look forward to continuing this practice."
In addition, according to Ivanov, Russia is actively participating in the SMOA Plus mechanism (the mechanism of meetings of defense ministers of ASEAN member states with dialogue partners).
"Russia plays a very active role in this mechanism primarily in two areas - mine clearance, which is still very relevant in Cambodia, as well as in the field of military medicine," TASS quotes the permanent representative.
"As for military-technical cooperation, it traditionally develops exclusively through bilateral channels," he said. - Russia in the ASEAN countries plays far from the last role in the field of military-technical cooperation, if not the first."
