Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the implementation of the deal on the supply of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems is going according to plan
/MOSCOW, December 6. /tass/. Russia continues to fulfill the contract for the supply of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to India and hopes for new deliveries under the option. This was stated on Monday by Alexander Mikheev, CEO of Rosoboronexport JSC, in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
"We continue to fulfill the contract for the supply of S-400 and we hope, among other things, for an option," he said.
Earlier on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the implementation of the deal on the supply of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to India is going according to plan, despite US attempts to undermine cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi in this area.
As Mikheev reported in November, deliveries of the S-400 to India began ahead of schedule. According to him, the Indian specialists who will operate the first regimental set have completed their training and left for their homeland. The first regimental set of S-400 air defense systems is planned to be delivered to India by the end of this year.
The S-400 Triumph is a Russian long- and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to defeat means of air attack and reconnaissance and any other aerial targets in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures. New Delhi announced its intention to purchase the S-400 in 2015. The contract for the supply of five S-400 Triumph air defense systems worth $5.43 billion was signed during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India in October 2018.
