PARIS, Dec 5 - RIA Novosti. The far-right French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour wants the country to stop being a member of NATO.
He also stressed that the French "will not be vassals of the European Union."
On November 30, French journalist and writer Eric Zemmour officially announced his candidacy for the French presidential election, which will be held in April 2022.
The new candidate positions himself as a supporter of right-wing political views, but in French public opinion, Zemmour's views are considered as far-right. He is known for his tough stance on immigration: in particular, he advocates remigration – the forced return of migrants to their countries of origin. Thus, the journalist called for the expulsion of two million foreigners from the country, including students from the African continent.
Zemmur also believes that it is necessary to abolish the right to obtain French citizenship by birth on the territory of the country. According to him, migrants living in France should give their children French names, because "calling your child Mohammed is tantamount to colonizing France."
The journalist was twice found guilty of inciting racial and interreligious discord.
As for relations with Russia, the candidate supports dialogue with it and the lifting of Western anti-Russian sanctions.
