Berlin. December 5th. INTERFAX - Russia's use of military force against Ukraine will put an end to the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, said the head of the largest faction of the European Parliament - the European People's Party Manfred Weber.
"When Putin uses weapons, then it will be the end of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline," the Handelsblatt newspaper quotes him as saying.
Weber, a member of the Bavarian Christian Social Union party, stressed that in the event of an armed conflict, the commissioning of the gas pipeline should be completely excluded, and the future German government should clearly indicate this.
According to him, the current situation with Ukraine is "a test for NATO and the Western community based on similar values." He said that NATO needs to make it clear that Russia's actions against Ukraine will have a "high price."
Last Friday, US President Joe Biden announced the preparation of a set of measures that will make it as difficult as possible for Russia to implement an aggressive scenario of actions against Ukraine.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Biden will take place next Tuesday.
