The first flight of the Belarusian cosmonaut will take place in 2023-2024, a girl may become one, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said.
"I asked the Belarusian side to pick up the girls," Rogozin told reporters.
According to him, Roscosmos expects that the flight will take place in 2023-2024.
"In the first half of 2022, the Cosmonaut Training Center will receive the first candidates," Rogozin said.
Roscosmos reported that in the near future they will discuss with the Academy of Sciences of Belarus organizational and technical details on the preparation of the Belarusian cosmonaut for the flight to the ISS.
Roscosmos, together with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, will fulfill this instruction of the heads of state of the Union State. Together with the Belarusian side, the program of scientific experiments on board the ISS RS, the timing of the start of the selection and training of representatives of the Republic of Belarus will be agreed," the press service reported.
"Our proposal is to train a research cosmonaut who is ready to work as part of the Roscosmos Cosmonaut Squad," Interfax quotes the message.
