After analyzing the composition of conscripts sent to the troops, the General Staff came to the conclusion that the attractiveness of military service has grown among older citizens in Russia. This makes it possible to recruit units for the most part with people who have been trained in educational organizations and already have specialties that are in demand in the Armed Forces. This statement was made by the head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Department of the General Staff, Yevgeny Burdinsky.
According to him, the number of 18-year-old recruits is significantly reduced. So, since 2016, it has decreased by four percent. At the same time, the number of military personnel with professional education has increased. If five years ago 45 percent of citizens with a diploma of secondary vocational education were sent to military service, then in 2020 there were over 58 percent of such people.
As follows from the data of the General Staff, the health of conscripts is also improving. State measures aimed at the prevention and treatment of diseases, including the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people, play a role here. That's what the statistics say. In 2012, the number of citizens recognized as fit for military service amounted to 69.9 percent. And in 2020, this indicator increased by eight percent and amounted to 78 percent.
The Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that last Thursday, Colonel-General Yevgeny Burdinsky presented the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Stavropol Territory Yuri Kovalenko with the passing Pennant of the Minister of Defense of Russia "To the winner of the competition for the best preparation of citizens for military service, organization and conduct of conscription of citizens for military service among the subjects of the Russian Federation." "Following the results of the competition, the Stavropol Territory, having demonstrated innovative approaches in the field of training citizens for military service and accounting and conscription work, became the winner for the sixth time during the entire period of its holding," said the head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Department of the General Staff.
